PMD Forecasts Dry Weather with Isolated Rain in Northern Areas

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast mainly dry weather across most parts of Pakistan on Thursday, with chances of isolated rain, wind, and thunderstorms in upper regions during the daytime.

According to the Met Office, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan may receive scattered rain accompanied by gusty winds and occasional hailstorms.

Weather outlook for major cities

In Islamabad, partly cloudy weather is expected with a 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms during the daytime.

Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to remain dry; however, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Peshawar may experience isolated rain with thunderstorms.

Similarly, dry weather is expected across most of Punjab, although Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Lahore could see scattered rain and thunderstorms, with hailstorms possible at a few locations.

Meanwhile, Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain largely dry, while partly cloudy conditions with light rain may occur at isolated places in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, rain-windstorms and thunderstorms were recorded in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, and Kashmir.

Significant rainfall included Rawalakot (37mm), Gujranwala (30mm), Kot Addu (28mm), Attock (26mm), Murree and Narowal (21mm), while Peshawar received 28mm of rain.

In Islamabad, 15mm of rainfall was recorded in Bokra and 13mm at the airport.

Temperature update

The highest temperature on Wednesday was 37°C in Shaheed Benazirabad, while Turbat, Lasbella, Chhor, Mithi, Dadu, Mohenjo-daro, and Mirpur Khas recorded 36°C.

Temperatures ranged between 12°C and 18°C in Islamabad, 13°C to 25°C in Lahore, and 23°C to 33°C in Karachi.

The Met Office has advised the public to remain cautious of gusty winds and possible hailstorms in vulnerable areas during the forecast period.
