Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV and Jaecoo J7 PHEV Compared

The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV was officially launched in Pakistan on Friday, and is expected to compete directly with the Jaecoo J7 PHEV, which has already been introduced in the market.

Both plug-in hybrid SUVs offer closely matched specifications, particularly in terms of performance and battery capacity, placing them in direct competition within the emerging hybrid SUV segment.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV measures 4,553 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width and 1,696 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. In comparison, the J7 PHEV is slightly shorter at 4,500 mm in length, slightly wider at 1,865 mm and stands at 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,672 mm.

In terms of performance, both vehicles produce 342 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque, and are equipped with an 18.3 kWh battery pack. Each model offers an electric-only range of around 90 kilometres under WLTP standards.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 8.4 seconds, while the J7 PHEV does so in 8.5 seconds.

On the features side, the Tiggo 7 PHEV comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment system and eight Sony speakers, while the J7 PHEV offers a larger 14.8-inch display along with a similar speaker setup.

A key distinction between the two models is pricing, with the Tiggo 7 PHEV introduced at Rs. 9,499,000, compared to Rs. 10,499,000 for the J7 PHEV.

With similar specifications across core areas, both SUVs are positioned as direct rivals, with pricing and feature preferences likely to influence buyer choice.
