Matric examinations for classes 9 and 10 began in Karachi on Friday, with Class 10 computer science paper being held on the opening day.

During the visit, the chairman reviewed arrangements at the exam center and said the overall situation remained satisfactory. He added that more than 385,000 students were appearing in the examinations peacefully across the city.

For the exams, authorities have established 521 examination centers and formed 51 vigilance teams to monitor the process and prevent irregularities.

The chairman said the board had set up centers according to the list provided by the schools directorate, but admitted that the number of centers in public schools was reduced because some government school teachers made excuses and did not fully cooperate.

He also said a shortage of furniture in government schools had contributed to the lower number of exam centers set up there.

According to the chairman, the board also kept constant watch on the movement of question papers through its monitoring room to ensure secure delivery to centers.
