Islamabad Traffic Plan Issued Ahead of Islamabad Talks 2026

The federal capital’s traffic police have announced a comprehensive diversion plan ahead of the high-profile Islamabad Talks 2026 between the United States and Iran.

Heavy traffic ban for two days

Authorities confirmed that heavy traffic will be banned from entering Islamabad on April 11 and 12 due to heightened security measures for the arrival of foreign delegations.

Alternative routes for commuters

Traffic police have advised commuters to use alternate routes:

  • Peshawar to Rawalpindi travelers  should use Taxila Motorway
  • Lahore to Peshawar commuters can opt for Rawat, Chak Beli, Chakri routes
  • Residents of G-5, F-6, F-7 should use Margalla Road
  • Residents of G-6 and G-7 should use Ninth Avenue

Traffic from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point will also be diverted to Ninth Avenue.

Additional route adjustments

  • Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi travelers can use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road, and the GT Road
  • Rawalpindi to Islamabad commuters should use Ninth Avenue via Saddar
  • Vehicles from Colonel Sher Khan Road should use Stadium Road via Ninth Avenue

For intercity travel, authorities have recommended the Taxila and Fateh Jang Motorways for smoother movement.

Security-driven measures

Officials said the diversion plan aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain security during the talks, as increased movement and strict arrangements are expected across the capital.
