The district administration of Attock has launched a free commercial transport service across seven inter-city routes, deploying a fleet of 22 buses to provide relief amid rising fuel prices.
Member of the National Assembly Sheikh Aftab Ahmed inaugurated the service at the General Bus Stand, stating that increasing petroleum prices, driven by global tensions, including between Iran and the United States, have significantly impacted commuters in Pakistan.
Under the initiative, multiple routes have been covered, including Attock-Hassanabdal, Attock-Hazro, Attock-Fatehjang, Fatehjang-Pindigheb, Hasanabdal-Fatehjang, Pindigheb-Jand, and Fatehjang-Jand.
The service aims to ensure safe, comfortable, and completely free travel for the public.
Officials said the targeted subsidy for transport is designed to prevent fare hikes and control inflation linked to rising diesel costs.
The initiative is expected to particularly benefit low- and fixed-income families facing increased transportation expenses.
Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza confirmed that 22 modern buses have been deployed in the first phase and assured strict monitoring to maintain service quality and efficiency.
