Finance Minister Pitches Cashless Payments Agenda in Meeting With Mastercard

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with Tucker Foote, Chief Government Affiars at Mastercard in Washington, D.C. on the sidelines of the World Bank IMF Spring Meetings 2026, with discussions focused on strengthening digital payments and expanding financial inclusion in Pakistan.

During the meeting, both sides explored avenues to promote innovation in Pakistan’s fintech ecosystem and support the growth of a more secure and inclusive digital economy.

The discussions also covered cybersecurity, cross-border financial flows, and remittances, key areas for Pakistan as it looks to deepen formal financial channels and improve digital transaction infrastructure.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the development of a forward-looking digital payments ecosystem aimed at improving financial access and strengthening economic resilience.
