Honor may be preparing another major battery upgrade, with a new leak suggesting the company has started trial production of a larger battery for an upcoming smartphone.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Honor is testing a battery with a rated capacity of 10,690mAh and a rated energy output of 40.41Wh.
The battery is expected to deliver a typical capacity of 11,000mAh or more once finalized.
The leak did not confirm which smartphone will use the new battery. However, it could debut in the successor to the Honor Power2.
The current Honor Power2 features a 10,080mAh silicon-carbon battery, which the company claims can provide more than 20 hours of video playback.
It also supports 80W wired fast charging and 27W reverse wired charging, allowing the device to function similarly to a power bank.
Honor previously introduced the Honor Win and Honor Win RT as the first smartphones with 10,000mAh batteries. The Power2 then followed with a slightly larger 10,080mAh unit.
The company is also rumored to be working on the upcoming Honor X80, which may include a 10,000mAh battery.
If the leak proves accurate, Honor could further strengthen its position in the large-battery smartphone segment, where endurance and reverse charging are becoming stronger selling points.
