Karachi-Bound Oil Tanker Safely Exits Strait of Hormuz Through US Blockade

A Pakistan-flagged oil tanker has successfully exited the Strait of Hormuz carrying crude oil from the United Arab Emirates, showing continued energy flows despite rising geopolitical tensions in the region.

Shipping data showed that the tanker Shalamar, managed by Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, crossed the strategic waterway carrying around 440,000 barrels of Das Blend crude loaded earlier this week.

The vessel is now heading toward Karachi, where it is expected to unload its cargo on April 19.

Despite the heightened tensions, Pakistan’s oil supply chain appears to be functioning, with Shalamar being one of two Pakistani tankers that entered the strait earlier this week to load crude and petroleum products.

Pakistan’s petroleum minister confirmed that the tanker loaded crude from an ADNOC terminal in the UAE.

Meanwhile, the US Navy has expanded its enforcement measures, warning that vessels suspected of heading toward Iranian territory could be stopped and searched. US Central Command said that at least 14 vessels have already turned back to comply with the blockade within the first 72 hours of enforcement.
