Update: Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has denied reports of transport terminal closures in Islamabad, stating that all bus terminals, including Faizabad, remain open and transport operations are continuing as usual.
Transport terminals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been temporarily shut down as authorities enforce security measures ahead of a proposed second round of talks between Iran and the United States.
Officials have also suspended rent-a-car and tourism transport services as part of the restrictions. The district administration has informed transporters across the country and directed them not to issue tickets for travel to Islamabad and Rawalpindi until further notice.
Authorities have also barred public transport from entering the twin cities via the motorway and GT Road as part of the security plan.
Officials said goods transport may remain operational to ensure the supply of essential items is not disrupted, with a final decision under consideration. The measures were approved during a meeting chaired by the Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, Faisal Movers said its Islamabad services have been temporarily suspended following government directives, adding that passengers will be informed once operations resume.
What an ambiguous report ! On the one hand Deputy commissioner has denied the action of closing down while on the other hand orders have been passed for closure of bus stands. Aim is to hit a common man. A car owner may move but commuters belonging to middle class or lower middle class is to be teased rather humiliated.
