Islamabad to Get 1,000-Acre Public Park

A new public park, spanning over 1,000 acres, will be constructed at the foothills of the Margalla Hills in Islamabad. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, at the CDA headquarters.

The meeting involved a detailed review of ongoing and upcoming development projects in the federal capital. The aim is to transform Islamabad into an exemplary city that offers international standard facilities and recreational opportunities for the public, according to Minister Naqvi.

As part of this vision, a five-star hotel will be developed in collaboration with international firms through a joint venture. This will be part of the ongoing efforts to elevate Islamabad’s infrastructure and tourist appeal.

In addition to the park and hotel projects, the meeting also addressed the progress of a five-star hotel being developed in collaboration with the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI). Minister Naqvi issued orders to draft a new hotel policy that would provide zero taxes for investors in a bid to attract more investment to the city.

The Interior Minister also announced that a comprehensive survey of all the land and properties in Islamabad would be conducted in collaboration with the Survey of Pakistan. This will ensure better planning and management of the city’s assets. Furthermore, he directed the formation of a marketing team for upcoming auctions to enhance investor participation.

In other decisions, the meeting confirmed that a control room for the Capital Emergency Services will be established in the Safe City project. Chairman CDA, Sohail Ashraf, provided a detailed briefing on the development projects underway.

The CDA is also in the process of digitalizing all its data and transfer systems, and a digital dashboard will be introduced under the One Window Operation. Additionally, unnecessary positions in CDA will be eliminated as part of efforts to improve efficiency.
