The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is moving ahead with plans to install modern air traffic control systems at Karachi and Lahore airports after key approval for the project.
According to PAA, the upgrade will enhance the safety and efficiency of flight operations at the two major airports.
Officials said an advanced flight management system will also be introduced for the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions to improve monitoring and guidance of aircraft.
The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved the project’s PC-1, paving the way for its implementation.
Authorities said the existing system will be replaced with modern technology in view of increasing air traffic. PAA added that an international tender will be issued in the coming days, after which installation of the new system will begin.
