Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has revived gas production from the Jand-1 well in Attock District, increasing output more than three times from previous levels.
The company said the well is now producing over 21 million standard cubic feet per day, compared to around 7 million previously, following successful restoration work.
Jand-1 was initially brought into production in 2019 through the Dakhni Gas Processing Plant but later shut down due to mechanical failure caused by difficult downhole conditions and high levels of hydrogen sulfide.
OGDCL said it carried out the revival using its in-house technical team, completing the operation after detailed technical assessment and risk analysis.
The work included retrieving damaged downhole materials and restoring the well’s integrity under challenging conditions associated with sour gas production. To ensure long-term stability, the well has been recompleted using corrosion-resistant tubing designed for sour gas environments.
The company said all operations were conducted in line with strict health, safety, and environmental standards.
OGDCL is Pakistan’s largest exploration and production company, with operations spanning exploration, drilling, production, and reservoir management. It holds over 40 percent of the country’s exploration acreage and remains majority-owned by the Government of Pakistan.
