The Power Division has rejected reports claiming that the federal government has introduced a new requirement for solar consumers to obtain a license from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
The reports suggested that recent changes made it mandatory for consumers installing solar systems, including those opting for net metering, to secure a NEPRA license.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, a Power Division spokesperson rejected the claims and clarified that regulations for obtaining licenses related to solar net metering already exist and fall strictly under NEPRA’s jurisdiction as the regulator.
He said matters related to licensing fall under NEPRA’s jurisdiction, while distribution companies (DISCOs) are responsible for implementing the applicable regulations. The spokesperson said attributing such requirements to directives from the federal government is incorrect.
He added that no official position had been sought from the Power Division or the federal government before the reports were published, which led to confusion among consumers.

Making people fool. Any authority can do any thing. Power division says it has nothing to do with this matter. NEPRA is doing whatever it wants, it is supporting DISCOs by stealing money from public’s pocket. So, who is incharge here?
