Authorities in Dubai have established a new monitoring unit to regulate the growing use of bicycles and e-scooters across the city.
The move comes as cycling and e-scooter usage have increased significantly in recent years, prompting officials to introduce stricter safety and enforcement measures.
Under the new regulations, cyclists must wear helmets and reflective jackets to ensure visibility and safety on roads.
Authorities also imposed key restrictions on e-scooter users. Riding with more than one person on an e-scooter is now prohibited, while the minimum age for riders has been set at 16 years.
Additionally, officials have capped the maximum speed of e-scooters at 20 kilometers per hour to reduce accidents and improve road safety.
The initiative aims to enhance monitoring, ensure compliance with safety rules, and promote responsible use of micro-mobility options in the city.
