The Hyderabad Development Authority has requested a formal inquiry into the alleged approval of a private housing scheme based on a forged official letter.
The move follows directions from Zeenat-ul-Abideen Memon, who identified serious irregularities in the approval process and ordered the suspension of the scheme’s layout plan.
Forged letter used for approval
According to officials, the housing scheme obtained its No Objection Certificate (NOC) and layout approval through a letter falsely attributed to the office of the additional deputy commissioner.
Subsequent verification confirmed that:
- The letter dated January 3, 2025, was fake
- Signatures and official stamps were forged
- The document was never issued by the relevant authority
High-value project under scrutiny
The scheme in question is located along Autobahn Road, a high-value area, raising concerns about administrative lapses and potential fraud.
Authorities also indicated that similar forged correspondence may have been used in other cases despite prior warnings.
Call for strict action
The district administration has recommended:
- A detailed inquiry into the incident
- Identification of officials responsible
- Cancellation of approvals obtained through fake documents
- Legal action against those involved
Officials warned that such practices can lead to financial losses for the government and mislead the public into investing in illegal housing projects.
Growing concerns over oversight
The case highlights gaps in verification mechanisms within planning authorities and underscores the need for stricter scrutiny in approving housing schemes.
