Transporters in Punjab have agreed not to increase fares following successful negotiations with the Government of Punjab, providing relief to commuters amid rising fuel costs.
The decision was reached after talks with transport unions, including the Pakistan Mini Mazda Goods Transport Association, which also committed to maintaining existing fare levels.
Government Welcomes Decision
Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar welcomed the move, saying it reflects cooperation during challenging economic conditions.
He added that free travel facilities on public transport systems, including metro buses, Speedo buses, and electric buses, will continue to support commuters.
Fuel Supply Concerns Addressed
In a separate development, the All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association dismissed reports of a nationwide strike.
Vice Chairman Nauman Butt termed the claims baseless and confirmed that petrol pumps across the country will remain open.
No Disruption Expected
Officials assured that:
- Fuel supply will continue without interruption
- No strike is planned between May 1 and May 5
- All petrol stations are operating normally
Authorities urged the public not to pay attention to rumours regarding closures or shortages.
