Electricity consumers across Pakistan, including K-Electric customers, may receive a major relief of Rs. 63.94 billion after power distribution companies submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority for quarterly adjustments related to the first quarter of calendar year 2026.
According to the request, a reduction of Rs. 36.83 billion was recorded under capacity charges during January to March 2026.
The distribution companies also sought a reduction of Rs. 11.24 billion under system usage charges and market operation fees.
In addition, the petition includes a proposed reduction of Rs. 23.51 billion linked to incremental units.
NEPRA is scheduled to hear the request on May 19, after which the regulator will make a final decision on whether the relief will be passed on to consumers.

Things should be fixed in public interest with visible accountability of all culprits.
Before Allah send his decision we may not like.
