Power Consumers May Get Rs. 63 Billion Relief Across Pakistan

Electricity consumers across Pakistan, including K-Electric customers, may receive a major relief of Rs. 63.94 billion after power distribution companies submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority for quarterly adjustments related to the first quarter of calendar year 2026.

According to the request, a reduction of Rs. 36.83 billion was recorded under capacity charges during January to March 2026.

The distribution companies also sought a reduction of Rs. 11.24 billion under system usage charges and market operation fees.

In addition, the petition includes a proposed reduction of Rs. 23.51 billion linked to incremental units.

NEPRA is scheduled to hear the request on May 19, after which the regulator will make a final decision on whether the relief will be passed on to consumers.
