Pakistan openers Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas created history for the Pakistan women’s national cricket team by recording the second-highest opening partnership in Women’s ODIs during the second match of the home series against Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team at National Bank Stadium.
Batting first, Pakistan made a dominant start as both openers attacked from the outset and quickly piled up runs, taking the team total to a massive total.
Feroza and Shamas crossed the 150-run partnership mark, with Feroza reaching her maiden ODI century while Shamas moved closer to another hundred in the 50-over format.
The partnership finally ended at 189 runs when Lindokuhle Mabhero dismissed Feroza. She scored 100 runs from 95 deliveries, including 13 boundaries, and helped register the second-highest opening stand in Pakistan women’s ODI history.
The highest opening partnership for Pakistan women remains the 221-run stand by Sidra Amin and Muneeba Ali against Ireland Women at Gaddafi Stadium in November 2022.
In that match, Pakistan posted 335-3 in 50 overs after Sidra Amin played a brilliant innings of 176 off 151 balls, hitting 20 fours and one six.
Muneeba Ali also impressed with 107 runs from 114 deliveries, including 10 fours and two sixes.
Ireland Women were later bowled out for 207 in 49.3 overs as Pakistan secured a commanding 128-run victory.
