Power Division Introduces QR Code System to Show Electricity Subsidy Details on Bills

The Power Division has announced a new mechanism under which electricity consumers receiving government subsidies will now see the exact subsidy amount mentioned on their monthly power bills.

According to the Power Division spokesperson, electricity distribution companies have started introducing QR codes on bills to improve transparency and ensure that subsidies continue reaching eligible consumers.

Under the new system, consumers will be required to scan the QR code and complete registration through an online link. Officials said the process is intended to verify deserving households and ensure that low-consumption and low-income families continue receiving relief.

The Ministry of Energy clarified that the initiative does not mean subsidies are being withdrawn. Instead, authorities described it as a transparency and verification measure aimed at ensuring proper use of public funds and preventing leakages.

Officials said the government remains committed to providing relief to poor and middle-income households despite economic pressures and fiscal constraints.

Consumers have been urged to complete registration through the QR code at the earliest to avoid any future issues related to subsidy eligibility. The Power Division also advised consumers facing billing errors or technical problems to contact their respective electricity company helplines for assistance.
