Private schools in Punjab have sought permission from the provincial government to conduct summer camps during upcoming summer vacations to make up for academic losses faced by students.
According to school owners, the camps would help continue educational activities affected by recent unscheduled holidays in schools across the province.
Private school representatives proposed that the summer camps should be held in early morning hours from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM to avoid extreme heat.
School administrations said the disruption in regular classes had affected syllabus completion and students’ academic progress. Education sector representatives said summer camps could help reduce learning loss and improve preparation before the next academic session.
Sources in the Punjab School Education Department said private schools are usually granted permission to organize one-month summer camps every year. Department officials added that this year’s final approval for summer camps will be issued after clearance from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
