SanDisk’s New 1TB SSD With 600MB/s Speeds is Fully Pocket Friendly

SanDisk has introduced the ELE series 1TB portable SSD upgraded model in China at an introductory price of $128.

The device is designed for users who need portable storage for large files, including video projects and high-resolution photos, without taking up much physical space.

Dimensions and Performance

The SanDisk ELE 1TB portable SSD measures 75 mm long, 45 mm wide, and about 10 mm thick. It weighs 31.7 grams, making it small enough to fit into a pocket, camera pouch, or laptop bag. SanDisk said the drive has been tested to survive drops from up to two meters for everyday handling and travel.

The SSD connects through a USB-C port using the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, which supports a theoretical bandwidth of up to 10Gbps. SanDisk said the drive can deliver read speeds of up to 600MB/s.

That performance is suitable for tasks such as transferring documents, moving media files, and running routine backups. The drive is faster than older mechanical hard drives, although it remains below the 1,000MB/s and 2,000MB/s speeds offered by higher-end portable SSDs currently available.

SanDisk has not disclosed the exact write speeds for the ELE portable SSD and has only noted that they are slightly lower than the read speeds. This is common for entry-level and mid-range storage devices, though users handling very large batches of files regularly may experience longer transfer times than the advertised read speed suggests.

Compatibility

The SSD is a plug-and-play device that works with most hardware featuring a USB-C port, including Windows PCs, Macs, tablets, and Android smartphones, without requiring additional software.

The drive operates safely in temperatures between 0°C and 45°C and comes with a three-year limited warranty.
