The Punjab government has released Rs. 2 billion for the construction of a 286-bed general hospital in Layyah, according to district administration officials.
Officials said funds have also been allocated in the current fiscal year for the establishment of a medical college adjacent to the proposed hospital.
The district administration further announced that the Bahadur Digital Library is being restored for public use, while the long-delayed Chowk Azam Trauma Centre is expected to become operational after the release of new funds.
Meanwhile, authorities have issued a work order for the construction of a cattle market worth Rs. 1 billion. Payments to landowners will be made in phases. Officials said the District Hospital and the new General Hospital would function independently.
The administration also announced plans to construct labor sheds and ensure the availability of water and other basic facilities for workers at project sites.
