The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched a fully online and paperless degree attestation system aimed at simplifying the verification process for students across Pakistan.
HEC Chairman Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar said the new Digital Attestation System (DAS) will eliminate the need for applicants to visit HEC offices or submit original academic documents for attestation.
According to the chairman, the platform has been developed using blockchain technology to ensure faster, more secure, and transparent verification procedures.
He added that recommendations from the National Assembly’s standing committee were also incorporated during the development process.
Under the new system, students can apply for degree attestation online at any time through HEC’s e-services portal.
Applicants will be required to create an account, provide academic details, and upload their credentials for digital verification.
The uploaded documents will be verified online by both HEC and the relevant universities before approval is granted.
HEC has also integrated online fee payments through OneLink, allowing applicants to avoid visiting banks and waiting in long queues.
Unlike the previous manual process that required physical document submission and in-person visits, the updated system will issue digital e-certificates after successful verification.
Applicants will receive updates regarding their application status through SMS and email notifications, while verified certificates can be downloaded directly from their online portal accounts.
Officials said the initiative is expected to reduce processing time, lower expenses for students, and improve transparency by minimizing manual intervention in the attestation process.
