Authorities have issued revised official prices for roti, naan, paratha, and tea across Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and other districts of Rawalpindi Division.
Following the notification, tandoors in the twin cities have started selling bread items at the updated rates.
According to the new price list, a red flour roti will cost Rs. 17, while the price of white flour fermented roti has been fixed at Rs. 30.
Sesame naan will now be sold for Rs. 35, while paratha and roghani naan have been priced at Rs. 60 each.
The official rate for potato paratha has been set at Rs. 80. Authorities have also revised tea prices, fixing a full cup at Rs. 100 and a half cup at Rs. 70.

Well, whats wrong with this practice? It is very much among the responsibilities of the GoP / civil servants. I wonder what alternate do you have to offer ???
It is not government job to fix roti price. Let the market forces work!
Sometimes I envy these authorities work.. Don’t have to do anything.. Just release notifications on social media. But then not everyone is satisfied earning these type of income..
These so called “Authorities” Need to close the loop while announcing rates.
i.e ensure the right price, ensure implementation, catch the violators.
The rates you mentioned are already same or much higher then them since nearly a year. Investigate first before reporting.

Government has lost control on price hike
These rates are too high for a country where per capita income is very low.
In any case, the rates and the weight / volume, fixed by the government have never been followed by the sellers and there has never been any checks or punishments.
Just wait and watch for the tsunami of inflation that is yet to follow after this year’s budget.
In our country using or returning coins / change is almost obsolete or not in use practically. If Roti is priced 17 and rarely a shopkeeper returns coins / change.
So it better to increase weight of Roti a bit and price may be set in round figures for example 20 Rs because its already unofficially sold on this price.
What is the weight of each type of Roti / Nan. The fixation of price is meaningless if it is not for specific quantity / weight,
In an agriculture country like ours, high price of staple grain is shameful and speaks volumes of government and administration’s apathy and peoples’ enemity. Basic Roti / Bread / and Nan Should be free for all Pakistanis. The quality, ability and patriotism of our governments have been the biggest obstacles for making realistic and people friendly welfare policies.
Consumption of wheat per head daily= 500 grams
Total for 240 Million Pakistanis= 120,000 Metric Tonnes
Total cost @ 87500 / MT= Rs. 10.5 Billions
Cost per year =Rs. 3832.5 Billions/13.7 B$
No doubt the figures are huge but but when one is sure nobody in Pakistan is sleeping hungry. Besides these figures are Peanuts in comparison to the corruption and money laundering our VIPs and VVIPs are doing.
This brave step can only be taken by a leader who is honest, brave and selfless. Such a person is on the extreme hatelist of the local and international power btokers thus can only be condemned to jail or gallows.
What extra cost is involved in fermented roti???

موجودہ نرخ بھی معیار اور عوامی آمدن کے مقابلے میں پہلے ہی زیادہ ہیں، اس لیے مزید اضافہ عام آدمی پر اضافی مالی بوجھ ڈالنے کے مترادف ہے۔ عوام کو صرف مہنگائی نہیں بلکہ معیاری اور منصفانہ سہولیات بھی درکار ہیں۔

کے مالی حالات کا سنجیدگی سے جائزہ لینا چاہیے۔ صرف قیمتیں مقرر یا بڑھا دینا کافی نہیں، بلکہ چائے، روٹی، نان، پراٹھے اور دیگر روزمرہ اشیاء کی مقدار، معیار، صفائی اور استعمال ہونے والے اجزاء کی سخت نگرانی بھی ضروری ہے۔
اگر عوام سے زیادہ قیمت وصول کی جائے لیکن بدلے میں نہ مناسب معیار ملے، نہ مکمل مقدار اور نہ ہی صاف و معیاری اشیاء، تو یہ عوام کے ساتھ انصاف نہیں بلکہ ناانصافی محسوس ہوتی ہے
