Fresh details about Assassin’s Creed Hexe have surfaced online through leaks shared by Rogue and additional information from j0nathan.
The leaks reveal new story details, gameplay mechanics, and possible connections to earlier Assassin’s Creed characters.
One of the biggest claims from the leaks is that Ezio Auditore could return in some form, the protagonist of the highly acclaimed classic Assassin’s Creed games. J0nathan reportedly described Ezio’s appearance as certain rather than speculative.
Leaked dialogue suggests Ezio may appear as an older mentor figure. One line reportedly says: “Come. Leap with me. One last time for an old man.”
According to the leaks, the game’s protagonist is named Anika. J0nathan said “Elsa” was reportedly only a placeholder name used during development, similar to “Jora” for Eivor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
The reports claim Anika is a descendant of Claudia Auditore, the sister of Ezio Auditore. This connection reportedly links Assassin’s Creed Hexe to the Italian Brotherhood storyline.
The main setting is said to be Würzburg in Bavaria, an area historically linked to some of the most severe witch trials of the 16th century.
Additional locations are also reportedly planned beyond Würzburg.
The leaks mention a skill tree ability focused on jumping between tree branches, suggesting forest-based parkour traversal will play a larger role.
Story objectives reportedly include tasks such as finding ritual sites and recovering stolen relics.
Other gameplay systems mentioned include Blood Pacts, poison mechanics, and a stricter detection system where NPCs immediately report suspicious actions.
“They always fear what they cannot control. They called us demons once, too. But remember, Elsa: ‘Nulla è reale, tutto è lecito.’”
Anika reportedly also says: “That white hood, it’s like the one in my mother’s drawings.”
Another Ezio line reportedly states: “She wanted you to have a life.”
It remains unclear whether Ezio would appear physically, through flashbacks, or through Isu-related projections.
Leaked dialogue from Anika also outlines her role in the story.
One line reportedly says: “They call me a witch. They want to burn me for what I can do. For what I know.”
J0nathan reportedly described the story as potentially stronger than any Assassin’s Creed narrative since Origins.
The leaks also mention a character named Wolfgang appearing in the main story, though his role has not been detailed.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe has reportedly faced several development changes in recent months.
In February 2026, creative director Clint Hocking left Ubisoft. Hocking previously worked on titles including Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion.
Ubisoft later appointed Jean Guesdon, director of the original Black Flag and current Head of Content for the Assassin’s Creed brand, as the new creative director.
Reports claim Guesdon changed the project’s direction by reducing some of the earlier supernatural mechanics, including a rumored cat possession ability.
In April 2026, game director Benoit Richer also left Ubisoft to co-found indie studio Servo Games alongside former Ubisoft developers. Ubisoft has not announced a replacement for Richer.
Around the same period, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reported that around 50 developers were reassigned from Hexe to Ubisoft’s internal Interproject team, reportedly following the project’s reduced scope.
Despite the development changes, reports claim Assassin’s Creed Hexe remains one of Ubisoft’s most requested internal projects among developers.
The current reported target release window is June 2027, though some reports suggest a delay to Holiday 2027 remains possible.
