The Punjab School Education Department has approved the establishment of summer camps in schools during the upcoming summer vacations to help students continue limited academic activities during the break.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the summer camps will start during the first week of vacations and continue for one month.
According to the minister, the camps will operate from 7:30am to 9:30am to avoid extreme heat while helping students complete their syllabus and maintain academic continuity.
He said the initiative aims to reduce learning gaps caused by the long summer break and support students in preparation for the next academic session.
The development comes days after the Punjab government announced summer vacations for schools from May 22 to August 23.
Meanwhile, several private school associations across Pakistan have opposed the decision, arguing that the lengthy holidays could negatively impact the education system. All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association President Irfan Muzaffar Kayani said the vacations should instead be observed from June 1 to August 14.
