Samsung has updated its Device Care app with a new feature designed to detect and block apps that spam users with advertising notifications.
The update arrives with Device Care version 13.8.80.7.
Automatic App Blocking
The new feature can identify apps that frequently send advertisement notifications and automatically place them into deep sleep mode.
According to Samsung, the goal is to stop these apps from repeatedly disturbing users through the notification panel. The feature includes two blocking methods.
Basic And Intelligent Blocking
The first option, called basic blocking, relies on Samsung’s own list of apps identified as frequently sending advertising notifications.
When those apps are detected on a device, the system automatically blocks them.
Samsung also added an intelligent blocking mode that continuously analyzes notifications to determine whether they are advertisements.
If the system detects frequent ad-related notifications, it can automatically block the app responsible.
Samsung noted that intelligent detection “may not always be accurate.”
Part Of One UI
Users can already manually uninstall apps that spam notifications, but the new feature automates the process directly through Device Care.
The Device Care app comes pre-installed with One UI, meaning it is available across Samsung devices.
However, the new notification spam blocking feature has so far only appeared on devices running One UI 8.5.
Samsung is currently rolling out the feature, and wider availability may take several days or weeks.
