Samsung Leak Hints At Future Glasses Free 3D Phone Displays

Samsung Display may be researching a new type of smartphone display technology that goes beyond foldable screens, according to a recent leak.

Information shared by leaker Schrödinger, also known as @phonefuturist on X, claims Samsung is internally developing a holographic display system under the codename MH1 or H1.

The leak also mentions a possible future “Spatial iPhone,” suggesting Apple could eventually become a customer for the technology.

Glasses Free 3D Technology

According to the report, the display system combines a nanostructured holographic layer, eye tracking, and beam steering technology to create a glasses-free 3D effect directly on a smartphone screen.

The idea is reportedly to allow users to slightly move or tilt the phone and view digital objects from different angles instead of seeing a flat image.

The leak also claims the display would preserve full resolution during standard 2D use, addressing one of the biggest problems seen in earlier glasses-free 3D products.

Research Still In Early Stages

The smartphone industry has experimented with glasses-free 3D displays before, including devices like the Nintendo 3DS, though many earlier systems had narrow viewing angles and inconsistent effects.

Samsung’s reported beam steering system is supposedly designed to improve viewing stability by directing light more accurately toward the user’s eyes.

However, the project is reportedly still in the early research and development phase, and commercialization may still be years away if the technology reaches mass production at all.

Future Possibilities

Samsung Display has previously helped push foldable OLED panels into the mainstream and has also experimented with glasses-free 3D monitors and spatial displays in other product categories.

The company recently introduced hardware-based viewing angle control technology with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, while similar systems are reportedly expected to appear in flagship devices from Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo later this year.

If the MH1 project eventually reaches consumers, the technology could support more immersive interfaces, including floating UI elements, spatial gaming, and deeper connections with mixed reality platforms such as Apple Vision Pro.
