DG FIA Usman Anwar Gets Another High-Profile Role

Dr. Usman Anwar has been given the additional charge of Director General of the National Police Bureau while continuing to serve as the head of the Federal Investigation Agency.

According to an official notification issued with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Dr. Usman Anwar will hold the additional charge for a period of three months or until a regular appointment is made.

The notification stated that the appointment took effect from May 1, 2026.

Dr. Anwar was appointed as DG FIA earlier this year following a reshuffle in Punjab’s senior police leadership.

Before moving to the FIA, he served as Inspector General of Punjab Police since January 2023.

A seasoned police officer from the Police Service of Pakistan, Dr. Anwar joined Punjab Police in 1995 and has held several high-profile positions during his career.

His previous assignments include serving as Director FIA Lahore, Additional Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police, Additional IG of Punjab Special Branch, and district police officer in Okara and Sargodha.
