Punjab Announces New Fines for 26 Traffic Violations

The Punjab government has introduced a revised penalty and point deduction system for traffic violations across the province under the amended motor vehicle regulations published in the Punjab Gazette on May 7, 2026.

Under the new penalty structure, overspeeding fines range from Rs. 2,000 for motorcycles and three wheelers to Rs. 10,000 for heavy transport vehicles, while four penalty points will also be deducted.

Reckless and negligent driving can now result in fines of up to Rs. 10,000 along with four penalty points. Driving without a valid license carries fines ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,000 depending on the vehicle category, while driving vehicles without fitness certificates can also result in fines of up to Rs. 5,000.

The revised penalties also cover violations including signal breaking, wrong way driving, overloading, driving without lights, illegal parking, use of mobile phones while driving, excessive smoke emission, route permit violations, and use of pressure horns in silence zones.

Motorcyclists riding without helmets and pillion riding by more than two persons have also been included in the updated enforcement list.

The notification further states that violations involving fake number plates can result in fines of up to Rs. 5,000. A point deduction mechanism has also been introduced under the revised system for multiple traffic offences.

  • it’s time to sell all vehicles and just get on public transport… kuch aise bhonday bhonday challans daalay hain jinki koi sense nai banti. next case saans lene pay challan… :p

  • It was mandatory in order to develop some civic sense in our people but at the same time when penalities are heavy there should be fool proof and challengeable measures to ensure full accountability i.e. Police officers to challan only on video evidence and also strict measures to control bribery by full duty audio/video recording

  • Pehly to Government ko chahiye k Motorcycle or Car companies ko Traffic Rules ki copies provide ki jyein.
Awam ko pta nhi Police wala Jo mrzi challan kri jye.. ab jiska challan howa usse pta hi nhi challan kyon howa!!

  • Traffic police ki dihaaria lgwaa rhe ha .. aur sath ma apni ayashio k liye pese bana rhe ha ..
Baat to tab ho na jub in k body cam ho aur wo recording pe ho aur check and balance k sath sath justice bhi ho..
Unhe pata ha hum chalaan kerte jaye ge ghareebo ka aur Kisi ki kia majaal himself poch sakay …
Aur ameero ko salute marte rhe ge ya un k uthate rhe ge jese k aj kul her dusra Banda boot walo k uthaa rhaa ha 🖐️🖐️

  • Traffic system needs to be overhauled. Putting fine is not the solution. Before imposing fines, awareness complaint should be launched with some traffic police teams who can stop the violaters and aware them their mistake, this compain should be at least 3 months, after that non serious violation ,warning should be issued, if the person does the same mistake again, he should be fined for two violations. On roads there is no regulations of lanes, first, people should be educated to remain on lane.license should be suspended after four violations and the person should go refresher course. Trained certified driving instructors should be available in driving schools, driving schools should also be regulated.there is lot more to say, but putting fine straitway is wrong

  • logoon ki itni income nahi jitny gov ne challan ki amount rakhi ha..award dena chahiye jo esy mashwary dety hain yha policies bnaaty hain

  • 1st thing
educate you police officers on the cc of heavy bikes they think that a 1000cc bike should make the sound of 70cc they all r uneducated people they don’t know the reasons of fines etc
2nd they do take the money/rishwat for no reasons

  • Shameful. The fines are highly exorbitant and without taking into account the financial burdens of the common man. How one have the heart to formulate such high fines for a motorcyclist who almost 100% are lowly wage earners. The provincial governments have apparently resorted to such high fines for the revenue generation instead of enforcing traffic discipline.

  • The Police should also be fined, if they act illegally, and that fine should be double of whatever they extract from innocent persons.

  • Pehle setup provide kro…. Humare Taxila wale GT road ki halat check kro or challan system check kro….. Clap hai bhai…. Well done jo challan le rae ho jo toll tax le rae ho wo raods pr kharch bi to kro….

  • Ghatia tareen government. Taxes k against awam ko dy kya rahy ho?? Pehly qanoon ko khud follow kro is mulk mn qanoon us k liy hy jo pkra jay jo hath sy Nikal jay uski kher hy.

  • Dangerously Driving Motors Cycles and Chin Chee Rickshaws without both Rare View Mirrors are causing so many accidents and unpaid losses to car drivers.
Reckless Motorcycle Drivers without Headlights are destroying lives in Pakistan.

  • These fines are cruelty and creating hatred for the Law enforcing authorities …. Violations are not that severe as the amount of fines imposed …. the authorities must be ashamed of this fascism ….
