Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the construction of two new six-lane motorway sections in Punjab as the government moves to expand the country’s motorway network.
The minister ordered that the Sialkot-Kharian and Kharian-Rawalpindi sections be developed as six-lane motorways. The directives were issued during a review meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA), attended by senior officials including the communications secretary and the NHA chairman.
During the meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the importance of improving transport infrastructure and accelerating progress on major highway projects. He also directed authorities to maintain strict technical standards and ensure complete accuracy in feasibility studies for all ongoing and upcoming NHA schemes.
The minister further expressed displeasure over delays in multiple infrastructure projects and said timely completion of national transport projects remained a top priority.

Pakistan should start investing maximum resources to fast track ML1 railway projects
Instead of motorways. It will save billions
of dollars and reduce pollution in the long
run.
Only if they actually care about environment and the future of Pakistan...
And save substantial amount on yearly maintenance of roads and purchase of cars/buses frequently.
Most important motorway section for Pakistan is the Sukkur Karachi. Yet despite its commercial and national imortance and after so many years of motorway network introduction in Pakistan, there does not seem to be any particular priority to even build 2 or 3 lanes.
And our think tanks are focused on Kharian Road instead of strengthening port routes — strange....
Frankly They prioritize infrastructure projects which benefit their their real estate business. Unfortunate! The state is only working to maximise the wealth and power of the so-called elite.
The National Highway was originally the motorway design from 1960s. But since it was built before the new motorways, it's called the National Highway and of course due to traffice it is congested.
Until Bhutto is Zinda ~ the construction of roads in Sindh will remain an area of diminishing returns for contractors due to the exorbient percentage set by the PPP langoors.
Corrupt locals, sabotaging national progress
Where is the missing link i.e Karachi to Sukkur. How can one announces new motorways leaving behind a key missing link to all parts of country from Karachi. vote bank does matter, big economical hub dont
Whats the update on new motorway being constructed between Islamabad and Lahore???
My country has gone to Dogs! Incompetency in every govt dept.
Be polite and cultutured in using words
"Gone to the dogs" is an idiom, not an impolite or uncultured phrase. Like "it's raining cats and dogs".
Why ?
They have said this at least 3 times in 3 years. Why isn't it built yet?
Sialkot _ kharian section has been delayed from last 4 years and it coast millons of lost
Sir please put your nose towards karachi shukar motorway as well to give 1 motorway to sindh at least.
Karachi is port city. Roads approaching the city deserve priority. Sukkur - Karachi M-9 should have been prioritised to support national transport & trade
When these will be completed
