A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the sharp increase in fees charged by private medical colleges across Punjab.
Punjab Assembly member Mohammad Ejaz Shafi, the Judicial Activism Panel, and other petitioners filed the plea against the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and several private medical colleges, according to reports aired by 24NewsHD TV.
The petition states that the hefty fee surge has made medical education unaffordable for many deserving students, limiting their chances of securing admission in private medical institutions.
The petitioners urged the court to direct the PMDC to withdraw the additional charges imposed on students. They also requested strict action against private medical colleges that allegedly collected excessive fees.
The case highlights growing concerns over rising educational costs and their impact on students seeking medical education in Pakistan.

You know what’s funny is that owners of most of these medical colleges were educated with less medical fee ..
Imposing high fees must guarantee high return. Every graduating student must get 1 million pkr per month in job or the free should be refunded
If these students pay hefty educational fee, then definitely they will charge hefty doctor fees after they become doctors. only the patients will suffer.
These are not medical colleges they are corrupt mafias running with the collaboration of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) giving them their shares.
Instead, the government should increase the seats in the government medical colleges and also establish more medical colleges. This will support all the needies brilliant students who cant afford private colleges fee and will overcome the short fall of doctors. There will be merit.
