Pakistan has reduced jet fuel prices by Rs111.44 per litre, a major move expected to ease airline operating costs and potentially lower airfares for domestic and international passengers.
The government set the new jet fuel price at Rs330.22 per litre under the latest petroleum pricing revision.
Aviation industry officials said the sharp reduction could provide significant financial relief to airlines struggling with rising fuel expenses in recent months.
Industry sources noted that jet fuel prices had previously increased sharply due to volatility in global energy markets.
The latest cut is expected to improve operational margins for airlines and may lead to fare reductions in the coming weeks, depending on market conditions.
Alongside the jet fuel reduction, the government also lowered petrol and diesel prices by Rs5 per litre each under its fortnightly fuel pricing mechanism, which adjusts rates according to international oil prices and currency exchange fluctuations.
