More Than 164,000 Pakistanis Deported From Gulf Countries in 5 Years

More than 164,000 Pakistanis have been deported from Gulf countries over the last five years, according to official figures shared in the National Assembly.

Data presented by the Ministry of Interior showed that Saudi Arabia accounted for the highest number of deportations, with 108,029 Pakistanis sent back during the period.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed with 40,497 cases, while Oman deported 9,814 Pakistanis. Qatar and Bahrain reported 2,971 and 2,779 deportations, respectively.

The figures were laid before the House during a tense sitting marked by noisy protests from opposition lawmakers.

The session saw repeated sloganeering and a sit-in near the speaker’s dais as opposition members stepped up criticism over the denial of meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan and concerns about his medical access.

Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said the government had failed to address the opposition’s demands and warned that his side would not allow normal proceedings to continue or take part in the budget process.

Opposition lawmakers later staged a walkout and also pointed to a lack of quorum during the sitting.

The House was also informed that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency had received more than 531,000 complaints from 2023 to date.

According to the report, over 5,700 cases were registered during this period, while 7,600 people were arrested over the past four years in connection with cybercrime offenses.
