The Sargodha administration has launched a crackdown against the sale of sacrificial animals at unauthorized locations across the city ahead of Eid al-Adha, while police have recovered stolen animals worth over Rs1.7 million from two suspected thieves.
According to officials, Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry directed the Sargodha Municipal Corporation (SMC) to take action after noticing the illegal sale of sacrificial animals in different parts of the city.
Under the supervision of SMC Chief Officer Zoya Baloch, municipal teams seized several animals being sold at non-designated locations and shifted them to an officially approved temporary cattle sale point in New Satellite Town near Tahli Chowk.
Officials said two temporary sale points have been established at Bhalwal Road and Tahli Chowk to facilitate traders and buyers before Eid al-Adha. Authorities added that animals can be sold at these locations free of charge.
The SMC warned that selling sacrificial animals along roadsides, streets, and other unauthorized places is prohibited, and strict action will continue against violators.
Authorities urged traders to move their animals to designated markets where basic facilities are being provided without any fee.
Separately, Sargodha police arrested two suspects, identified as Ali Hassan and Qamar Javed, for allegedly stealing sacrificial animals in multiple incidents.
Police claimed the suspects were involved in more than a dozen cases of animal theft and recovered stolen sacrificial animals worth over Rs1.7 million from their possession.
