Field Marshal Departs Iran After Round of Peace Talks Concludes

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Saturday that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir concluded a short but significant official visit to Iran, where he held a series of high-level meetings aimed at supporting ongoing regional mediation and de-escalation efforts.

According to the ISPR, the visit comes amid continued regional tensions following the ceasefire reached on April 8, 2026.

During the visit, the Field Marshal met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The discussions focused on accelerating the ongoing consultative process aimed at promoting peace, regional stability, and reaching a conclusive agreement through dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

ISPR stated that the meetings were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere and contributed meaningfully to the mediation process.

It added that intensive negotiations conducted over the last 24 hours resulted in encouraging progress toward a final understanding.

The Iranian leadership also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and sincere role in facilitating dialogue and supporting peaceful solutions to regional issues.

Upon his arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior civil and military officials.

  • Field Marshal is wearing civilian clothing and he is now excluding all ministers of PPP and PMLN from peace talks. Only Mohsin Naqvi is with him. Civilian government is sidelined and it is not a good sign as all for the future of Pakiatan.
