Xiaomi has launched its first clip on earbuds at a recent hardware event in China. The earbuds are priced at around $124. A limited launch discount lowers the price to about $117.
Open Ear Clip on Design
The new Xiaomi earbuds use an open ear design and clip onto the side of the ear instead of sitting inside the ear canal.
The design is aimed at users who find traditional silicone ear tips uncomfortable or want to stay aware of their surroundings while working or commuting.
Each earbud weighs 5.5 grams. Xiaomi has used a memory titanium wire bridge to keep the earbuds in place.
The company says the clamping distance is tuned to 3.4mm, which is designed to keep the earbuds secure without pressing too hard on the ear during longer use.
Design And Durability
The earbuds have a glossy and partially transparent finish. The charging case uses a soft touch, leather like coating.
Xiaomi is offering the earbuds in black, white, gold and purple.
The earbuds have an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance, which means they can handle light rain or sweat during use.
Audio And Call Features
The earbuds use an 11mm dynamic driver. They also support LHDC 5.0 for high resolution audio. Since open ear earbuds can leak sound, Xiaomi has added directional sound transmission and reverse sound waves to help keep audio more private.
For calls, the earbuds include a triple microphone array and a bone conduction microphone. This setup is designed to reduce background noise during voice pickup.
AI Features
Xiaomi has included several AI features in the earbuds. These include real time translation for 21 languages, live transcription and AI generated summaries through the XiaoAI assistant.
Battery Life and Software
Battery life is rated at up to nine hours on the earbuds. With the charging case, total battery life reaches up to 38 hours.
The earbuds integrate with Xiaomi’s HyperOS for audio sharing. Xiaomi has also added support for Apple’s Find My network for iOS users.
