Punjab Police have deployed more than 4,000 officers and personnel to provide security at 222 cattle markets across the province ahead of Eid al-Adha, including six major markets in Lahore.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, over 600 police officers and personnel are performing security duties at cattle markets in Lahore to ensure the safety of traders and buyers during the festive season.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem directed authorities to implement strict security arrangements at all approved cattle markets and warned that no illegal cattle market or sale point would be allowed anywhere in the province.
The IGP ordered police officials to intensify patrolling around cattle markets to curb fraud, pickpocketing, and other criminal activities. Police Response Units and patrolling teams have also been directed to remain active around market areas.
Region-wise deployments include 150 personnel at 23 cattle markets in Sheikhupura, 525 officers at 44 markets in Gujranwala, and over 340 personnel at 22 markets in Rawalpindi.
Faisalabad has deployed more than 538 officers at 19 cattle markets, while Multan has assigned over 480 personnel to 20 markets.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also chaired a meeting on Eid security and administrative arrangements and ordered foolproof security measures across the province during Chand Raat and Eid al-Azha.
She directed authorities to install metal detectors and walkthrough gates at Eid prayer venues and ensure strict implementation of security SOPs.
The chief minister also ordered enhanced patrolling in markets, deployment of women police personnel, and real-time monitoring through the Safe City system.
Maryam Nawaz further instructed officials to strictly enforce the ban on camps set up by proscribed organisations for collecting sacrificial hides and directed district police officers to personally oversee enforcement operations.
Home Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi informed the meeting that Eid prayers would be offered at 38,507 locations across Punjab.
