British-Pakistani Boxer Becomes World Champion in Style

British-Pakistani boxer Hamzah Sheeraz won the WBO super middleweight world title after stopping Germany’s Etinosa Oliha in the second round, securing the first world championship of his professional career.

The 26-year-old made a strong start and stayed on the front foot from the opening bell. His sharp and aggressive punching kept the German boxer under pressure, leaving him with little room to recover.

The fight was effectively decided after a powerful left hook from Hamzah Sheeraz rocked his opponent. With the German unable to regain control, the referee stepped in and stopped the contest in the second round.

With the win, Sheeraz claimed the vacant WBO super middleweight belt and added a major milestone to his fast-rising career. The title had become available after it was left vacant by Terence Crawford.

After sealing the victory, Sheeraz celebrated in the ring with his team and offered a prostration of gratitude to mark the moment.

Speaking after the fight, Sheeraz said he is now ready to take on the leading names in the 168-pound division. He said the bout became comfortable for him early on, adding that his first clean shot put his opponent under pressure and allowed him to stay in control for the rest of the fight.

Sheeraz had earlier won the European middleweight title in September 2024 after beating Tyler Denny, and this latest victory now marks the biggest achievement of his career so far.

His world title win was widely celebrated by Pakistani fans on social media, with many calling it a proud moment for Pakistan.
