Upgraded Train Service Launched Between Two Major Cities

Pakistan Railways has launched an upgraded Awam Express service between Peshawar and Karachi as part of efforts to improve long-distance rail travel facilities for passengers.

The upgraded service was inaugurated by Secretary and Chairman Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah during a ceremony held at Peshawar Cantt Railway Station. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi also attended the event.

According to Pakistan Railways, the upgraded Awam Express includes eight air-conditioned coaches along with improved seating arrangements and modern passenger facilities. The train can accommodate up to 1,234 passengers.

The first upgraded Awam Express departed from Peshawar at 8:30pm for Karachi and will travel through Rawalpindi, Lahore, Khanewal, Multan, Bahawalpur, Khanpur, Liaquatpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Daharki, Pano Aqil, Rohri, Nawabshah, Tando Adam and Hyderabad before reaching its final destination.

Addressing the ceremony, Syed Mazhar Ali Shah said Pakistan Railways was continuing efforts to strengthen rail services and business operations through upgraded facilities and improved passenger services.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahid Afridi expressed sorrow over the Quetta incident and prayed for the victims. He also congratulated Pakistan Railways on the launch of the upgraded Awam Express service.
