US Politician Tells Pakistan ‘Stay Away’ From Iran Talks After Khawaja Asif Remarks

Pro-Israel US Senator Lindsey Graham on Wednesday demanded that Pakistan stop mediating US-Iran talks to end the war and wants Islamabad to respond to Donald Trump’s stance on the Abraham Accords.

In his post, Graham described Pakistan’s role as a mediator as “problematic” and pointed to the country’s long-standing hostility toward Israel.

“Pakistan as a mediator is more than problematic. Their animosity towards Israel is long standing,” he said.

He also alleged that Iranian military aircraft were being housed at Pakistani air bases and demanded that “Pakistan give an answer now to President Trump’s call” to recognize Israel.

Graham took note of the latest comments by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on his anti-Israel stance, saying the remarks reflect continued rejection of normalization with Tel Aviv.

Pakistan has consistently rejected joining the Abraham Accords since their launch in 2020 and does not recognize Israel.

Khawaja Asif has reiterated that Pakistan’s position is based on the condition of an independent Palestinian state before any normalization can be considered.

  • Kh. Asif should refrain from commenting on foreign policy matters. His choice of words needs a lot of improvement. His manner of communication is most undiplomatic. He has spoilt all the good work done by all others who have represented Pakistan so far.

  • This is a pre-planned game of USA, Pakistan should be very careful and should stay away from Abraham Accord, otherwise the nation would respond.
