Punjab Uses Drone Technology for First Time in Eid Cleanliness Operation

The Punjab government has used drone technology for the first time to monitor its Eid-ul-Adha cleanliness operation across the province.

According to a spokesperson for the “Suthra Punjab” programme, authorities collected and disposed of more than 110,000 tons of animal waste and remains during the first two days of Eid across Punjab.

The spokesperson said that only Lahore generated over 17,000 tons of waste, which was promptly cleared as part of the large-scale sanitation drive.

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is personally monitoring the cleanliness operation, which continues successfully across urban and rural areas.

She added that more than 184,000 Suthra Punjab workers are actively engaged in the field, ensuring waste collection and disposal operations remain uninterrupted.

Officials said that after removing animal remains, streets, neighbourhoods, and roads are being washed and sprayed with rose water to maintain hygiene and improve sanitation conditions during Eid-ul-Adha.
