Pakistan’s livestock sector recorded broad-based growth over the past year, with the donkey population crossing 6.16 million, alongside increases in cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, and other animals, according to official data.
The number of donkeys rose by 113,000, reaching 6.16 million.
Buffaloes increased by 1.467 million to 49.155 million. Cattle numbers also posted strong growth, rising by 2.249 million to 61.96 million.
The goat population, one of the largest livestock segments, increased by 2.422 million. Sheep numbers rose to 33.511 million after an increase of 392,000.
There was also a marginal growth in camels, horses, and mules, with camels reaching 1.193 million, horses 386,000, and mules 221,000.
