Punjab Government Extends Clinic-on-Wheels Program to Gilgit-Baltistan

The Punjab government has expanded its healthcare outreach beyond provincial boundaries by sending six “Clinic on Wheels” mobile health units to Gilgit-Baltistan as a gift, aiming to improve access to medical services in remote areas.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said six fully equipped mobile clinics, stocked with essential medicines, have been dispatched to the northern region to support primary healthcare delivery.

He stated that Punjab’s public health services are now extending beyond the province, ensuring that citizens in far-flung areas receive better access to treatment and basic medical facilities at their doorstep.

The minister added that Maryam Nawaz is committed to serving people across Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the rest of the country, reflecting a broader vision of inclusive healthcare.

Khawaja Imran Nazir said the decision to expand the “Clinic on Wheels” initiative came after repeated public demand to extend mobile health services to other provinces and regions.

He noted that the Punjab government aims to bring essential healthcare services closer to underserved communities through mobile units.

Officials said the initiative is part of a wider effort to strengthen primary healthcare access and improve medical outreach in remote and hard-to-reach areas across Pakistan.
