Punjab Launches Motorbike Squad to Monitor Water Filtration Plants

The Punjab government has announced a series of measures to strengthen monitoring of water filtration plants across the province and ensure the uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to citizens.

The decision was taken during a review meeting of the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority, chaired by Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, where the performance and operational status of filtration plants were reviewed in detail.

Officials said the government is upgrading the complaint management system to improve response time and ensure swift resolution of public grievances related to water supply.

According to briefing officials, a special monitoring squad comprising 100 motorbikes will be deployed to inspect water filtration plants across Punjab. The squad will regularly check plant functionality and water quality in different areas.

The authority will also strengthen its helpline system (1336) to ensure immediate action on complaints. In addition, monitoring will be enhanced through geotagging and photographic verification to improve transparency and efficiency.

Officials further stated that laboratory testing systems for water quality will be upgraded to ensure safe and standard drinking water for residents. Priority will also be given to completing water supply projects in remote and underdeveloped areas.

Minister Bilal Yasin directed authorities to accelerate clean water projects across underserved regions, stating that providing safe drinking water remains one of the top priorities of the provincial government.

The meeting also reviewed future strategies and expansion plans of the authority, with officials emphasizing that improved monitoring and a strengthened complaint system will significantly enhance service delivery in the coming months.
