The Sindh College Education Department has failed to open admissions for first-year intermediate classes in government colleges across Karachi, leaving at least 125,000 students waiting to apply.
The admission process for Intermediate Part-I was scheduled to begin on June 1 under the Centralized Admission Policy, commonly known as SECCAP. Earlier, advertisements published in national newspapers on May 23 had announced that online registration would start on June 1 and continue until July 15.
Every year, nearly 125,000 students seek admission to government colleges in Karachi through SECCAP. Admissions are offered in six academic streams: Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Computer Science, Commerce, Humanities, and Home Economics.
Director General Colleges Professor Zahid Rajper said the admission portal was temporarily unavailable due to technical issues.
He said the technical team was working to fix the problem and expressed hope that the portal would become functional by Wednesday morning, allowing students to submit their applications.
