EA Sports FC has once again stirred debate among football fans after releasing its latest FIFA World Cup simulation ahead of the 2026 tournament.
The gaming giant has predicted Spain to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup, sharing the forecast in a post on X that read: “We’ve predicted four in a row. Now we’ve run the sim again. The next champion?” alongside an image of Spain players celebrating.
The prediction has drawn attention because EA Sports correctly forecast the winners of the last four World Cups. Its simulations predicted Spain’s triumph in 2010, Germany’s victory in 2014, France’s title in 2018 and Argentina’s success in 2022.
The company’s World Cup simulations are based on data from its football video game series, using player ratings and team strengths to project tournament outcomes. While EA’s simulations have accurately identified the eventual champions in recent tournaments, many individual match results and knockout-stage predictions have not matched real-life events.
Spain enters the 2026 World Cup as one of the strongest teams in international football. The European nation won the UEFA European Championship in 2024 and has built a talented squad featuring a mix of experienced players and emerging stars.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico and will be the first edition of the tournament to feature 48 teams.
With EA Sports now backing Spain to lift the trophy, fans will be watching closely to see whether the gaming company’s remarkable World Cup prediction streak can extend to a fifth consecutive tournament.
