Police in Islamabad registered 432 cases of kidnapping and sexual assault during the first five months of 2026, according to official data obtained by local media.
The figures show that 55 sexual assault cases and 377 kidnapping cases were reported across various police jurisdictions in the federal capital between January and May.
Among the sexual assault cases, the highest number was reported in the Soan Zone with 15 cases, followed by Sadar Zone with 13, Rural Zone with 12, Industrial Area Zone with nine, and City Zone with six.
Kidnapping cases were most prevalent in Sadar Zone, where 99 cases were registered. Soan Zone recorded 89 cases, Rural Zone 76, City Zone 44, and Industrial Area Zone 29.
Police data also revealed several cases involving minors among the reported sexual offences. Authorities registered cases under multiple provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Sections 375-A, 376, and 376-C.
In one kidnapping case, a man was abducted from outside his residence in Islamabad and was later found dead in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In another case, a victim was allegedly kidnapped from Islamabad and later found murdered in the province.
The figures have raised concerns about public safety in the federal capital. However, police officials did not publicly comment on the reasons behind the high number of reported cases despite media inquiries.
The data highlights ongoing challenges for law enforcement agencies in addressing serious crimes, including kidnapping and sexual violence, across the capital city.
