Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a province-wide initiative to modernize government schools under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, with 25,000 new classrooms being constructed across the province.
During a visit to Multan, the minister inaugurated development projects at Government Aam Khas High School and reviewed ongoing education reforms.
Provincial Secretary of School Education, Mudassar Riaz Malik, accompanied him during the visit, where the foundation stone for additional classrooms was also laid.
Addressing a ceremony, Rana Sikandar Hayat said the Punjab government was investing billions of rupees in education infrastructure to improve learning facilities and academic standards in public schools.
He said the School Education Department had accelerated efforts to construct new classrooms, establish information technology laboratories, strengthen boundary walls, and upgrade sports facilities in government schools.
The minister described the ongoing development program as one of the largest in Punjab’s history, aimed at providing students with modern educational resources and a better learning environment.
He also announced that the per-student subsidy for children enrolled in schools supported by the Punjab Education Foundation had been doubled to expand access to quality education.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said increased investment in the education sector would help improve educational outcomes and create better opportunities for students across Punjab. He directed officials to ensure that all development projects are completed within the prescribed timelines.
The initiative forms part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and modernize public schools throughout the province.
