Free Cancer Treatment Scheme Launched in Punjab for Eligible Patients

The Government of Punjab has launched a new healthcare initiative to provide financial assistance and comprehensive treatment support to cancer patients across the province.

Under the “Chief Minister Special Initiative for Cancer Patients,” eligible individuals will receive up to Rs1 million annually for free medical treatment.

The program aims to reduce the financial burden on patients and ensure timely access to quality healthcare services.

According to the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company, the scheme is available exclusively to permanent residents of Punjab. It covers the full treatment process, including diagnosis, medical procedures, and follow-up care.

Authorities said patients will receive treatment through a panel of designated hospitals included in the program to ensure standardized and regulated healthcare services.

To make it easier to get help, the provincial government has set up a 24/7 helpline (0800-09009), landline contact numbers, and a WhatsApp service for guidance, registration, and assistance.

Officials stated that the initiative is designed to improve healthcare access, promote early treatment, and reduce the economic pressure on families dealing with cancer, ensuring that patients receive timely and effective medical care across Punjab.
